Hello Everyone!
New Video in out! "La Llorona" is not only a gorgeous traditional Mexican folkloric song by an anonymous composer (later other verses were added by Andres Hinestrosa), but also a legend which talks about a woman ghost who roams waterfront areas mourning her drowned children. It has been covered by many amazing artists including the great Chavela Vargas, Laila Downs and Angela Aguilar to name a few.
This week I wanted to do something special to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos (Day Of The Dead), a Mexican tradition where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration.
A Day of the Dead altar, called an ofrenda, typically includes marigolds, candles, food and pictures of dead loved ones. People set them up in their homes, at cemeteries and other places that hold significance.
Tonight, I pay homage to my own father, to my relatives, friends and ancestors departed and invite them to celebrate in the love and gratitude that we will share forever
